Farm Financial Programs and Conservation Practice
Adoption in Oregon

This project investigates how farm financial programs, such as crop insurance, operating loans, and conservation cost-share programs, shape agricultural producers’ decisions related to soil and water conservation and land management in wheat and livestock production in Oregon. Using interviews with farmers and agricultural professionals, the study examines how financial incentives, risk management tools, and advisory relationships relate to the adoption of soil and water conservation practices. The findings will help inform the design of agricultural financial and conservation policies by clarifying how existing programs shape producers’ soil and water management decisions.
